Ultrasound in autoimmune rheumatic diseases workshop
Date: 17 May 2024
Time: 09.00 – 12.00
Title: Musculoskeletal ultrasound the ultimate differential diagnostic tool
Cost: 70 Euro per participant
Objectives:
In recent years, musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) has been widely used in the diagnosis and follow-up of autoimmune rheumatic diseases and represents a valid support to clinical practice. MSUS gives physicians the tools needed for faster decision-making to help patients move toward healing and improved health. The major advantages of MSUS include no radiation, ‘real time’ visualisation of functioning tissue, rapidity, and limited costs.
This course focuses on the role of MSUS as a tool for differential diagnosis in autoimmune rheumatic diseases.
Differences and similarities between various autoimmune rheumatic diseases will be evaluated from a sonographic point of view, with reference to inflammatory arthritis, osteoarthritis, crystal arthropathies, connective tissue diseases and giant cell arteritis.
The course includes a quiz test showing representative images with pathological pictures that will be repeated at the beginning and at the end of the course.
Speakers: Carlo Perricone, Alexandra Balbir-Gurman and Hočevar Alojzija
