Sustainability at Autoimmunity 2026

Autoimmunity 2026 and the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also called the Global Goals) are 17 goals with 169 targets that all UN Member States have agreed to work toward achieving by 2030. They set out a plan for a world without poverty, hunger, and disease.

We at Autoimmunity 2026 want to contribute to the achievement of these objectives in our value chain. We support and work toward the following SDGs:

How You Can Contribute as an Autoimmunity 2026 Delegate

As individuals, as well as a community, each of us can and should contribute towards maintaining the natural ecological balance in the environment and preserving the planet and its natural systems and resources. Here is what we invite you to do as part of the Autoimmunity Congress:

Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

  • Healthy and nutritious food: We will serve fresh and locally sourced meals, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, during our coffee breaks.
  • Sustainability: We are committed to using reusable dishware, compostable materials, and avoiding single-use plastics to minimize our environmental impact.

Clever water consumption

Encouraging participants to use reusable bottles of water in an attempt to address the global challenge of water scarcity and inadequate sanitation, promoting universal access to safe drinking water and proper sanitation facilities to improve health and well-being worldwide.

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns

  • Minimise the use of printed materials – Instead of producing a regular-sized program book, AUTO 2026 will have a mini program book instead. The mini version still contains essential information about the conference, including schedules, session details, and speaker profiles. Attendees can easily carry it in their pockets or bags, ensuring convenience while also minimising paper consumption.
  • Healthy, locally-sourced meals during the conference – By sourcing ingredients locally, the congress supports local farmers and reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance food transportation. These locally-sourced meals not only contribute to the overall sustainability of the congress but also promote a healthier and more nutritious dining experience for participants.
  • Promoting Sustainable Development – While organising our event, we enquire and opt for more sustainable options from our vendors, openly communicate our efforts to do better and encourage our partners and participants to do so too.
  • Reducing Single-Use Giveaways: We encourage all exhibitors to minimize single-use giveaways at their stands, promoting more sustainable alternatives.
  • Digital Course Materials: All course materials will be available in digital format, reducing paper waste and improving accessibility for participants.
  • Electronic Certificates: Course attendance certificates will be sent electronically, reducing the need for printed materials.
  • Recycling AUTO Branded Lanyards: branded lanyards will be collected and recycled after use onsite, reducing waste and supporting recycling initiatives.
  • Local Catering: We are working with our local catering partner to ensure the use of locally sourced, seasonal products, reducing the transportation footprint of the congress.
